The location in West Carrollton, (Ohio, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Quality Control and Purchasing Manager. This job is full-time permanent.

 

The Quality Control & Purchasing Manager oversees all West Carrollton quality systems and purchasing activities to ensure materials, processes, and finished goods meet customer, regulatory, and company standards. This role is responsible for being the corporate and customer liaison for quality and Domtar’s Central Purchasing group including managing supplier relationships, overseeing raw material procurement, and driving continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation. The manager works closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Corporate Quality to protect product integrity, reduce waste, and support efficient, cost‑effective operations.

  • Direct the development, implementation and maintenance of information and analysis systems designed to provide critical quality information in a format which allows process and product optimization.
  • Leads the plant in the development, implementation, maintenance, and auditing of quality systems and procedures to ensure our customers' quality expectations are met every time.
  • Primary liaison to the corporate quality and purchasing teams as well as the plant point of contact for customers.
  • Interfaces with production departments for grade development trials and specifications.
  • Research complaints to determine root causes and develops, implements, and audits corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Manage improvement activities in both the process and quality areas with the goal of efficiency increases and reduced cost of complaints.  Implement latest best practices.  Identify trends from the complaint data base and from collected analyses.
  • Resolve quality problems and customer complaints. Put in place realistic and effective corrective measures to avoid a recurrence of a quality problem. 
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises the comprehensive purchasing and storeroom functions at the West Carrollton facility
  • Negotiates pricing, terms and conditions for major and routine purchases with suppliers and contractors, reducing risk and lowering spend at the facility
  • Works with all West Carrollton and corporate purchasing departments when creating RFP’s and completing sourcing decisions related to chemicals, maintenance parts, and services.
  • Assists in Capitl and Major Maintenance Procurement.
  • Responsible for aligning purchasing objectives with business goals.

Demonstrates a solid understanding of Supply Chain, Materials Management, and procurement principles.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, paper sciences, or related technical field. Must have a minimum of 5+ years in Quality Management.
