The location in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Financial Analyst, Ontario Wood Products. This job is full-time temporary.

 

Financial Analyst, Ontario Wood Products 

(18 Months Maternity Leave backfill contract)

 

The Financial Analyst position will report to the Ontario Wood Products Accounting Manager, and is directly responsible to provide financial analysis for the Senior Management group regarding wood & operational costs with specific emphasis on variance analysis, month end accruals, month end and corporate reporting, budgeting, forecasting and ad-hoc analysis.

  • The salary range for this position is CAD $80,000 to $95,000 per year. Salary will commensurate with education and experience.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Inputting and extracting required information from available business systems and sharing appropriate cost with key personnel. 
  • Preparing accounting entries, reconciliations, corporate schedules and presentations on a monthly basis.
  • Participation in the annual budget/forecast process, business plans (as required), monthly forecasts, providing guidance and assistance to departments, preparation and analysis of working papers and schedules. 
  • Handling budget/quarterly forecast and monthly inquiries and requests from corporate. 
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting records. 
  • Participate in/preparation of special assignments and analysis as initiated by the Wood Products Accounting Manager, Ontario Sawmills General Manager, and other Operating Managers. 
  • Support and ensure adherence to corporate and local policies and procedures.
  • Preparing various government reports.

 

Your Challenges:

  • Ensure application of highest safety standards;
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial and statistical reporting and analysis for local management and Resolute’s Corporate Office;
  • Prepare financial performance estimates, quarterly forecasts, monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and other ad hoc analyses as required;
  • Work with the local leadership team to develop the site annual budget;
  • Extract required information from available business systems sharing appropriate cost information with key personnel;
  • Participate and prepare special assignments and analysis as initiated by the Regional Controller, local Site General Manager and other stake holders;

  • Reporting to the Regional Controller, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.

 

Your profile:

  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree Majoring in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of work experience within an industrialized manufacturing setting with demonstrated progression in leadership roles.
  • CPA (or prior CA, CMA or CGA) accounting designation required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required with strategic thinking; including an ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced and structured environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and long-term objectives; uses organized and efficient work methods.
  • Proficient analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong background in MS Office, advanced Excel skills, PowerPoint, and SAP would be an asset.
  • Keen desire to be a part of a dedicated, hardworking team.
