Job Title: Operations Supervisor – Rothschild Biomass Cogeneration Facility (RBCF)
Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Rothschild Biomass Cogeneration Facility (RBCF), which generates energy for both the Domtar mill and the MISO power grid. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and safety leadership, while coordinating across internal teams and external partners to optimize facility performance, productivity, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Domtar efforts to coordinate operations and partner with maintenance of the RBCF
- Serve as a champion of safety, actively applying Domtar Safety Systems
- Ensure regulatory compliance in all operational activities
- Provide direct supervision of operating crews
- Act as liaison between Domtar Pulp & Paper operations and WEC Energy Group
- Be accountable for safety, environmental performance, productivity, and quality results, both short- and long-term
- Lead the Operator Training and Qualification Board (OTQB) process and develop operator competencies
- Analyze operational and process data to troubleshoot complex systems and implement effective corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability

Technical Competencies / Qualifications
- High safety expectations and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Pulp & Paper, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of Operations Leadership experience, with focus on power and steam generation systems
- Experience in natural resource-based energy systems, biomass or renewable energy operations preferred but not required
- Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex process systems and implement corrective actions
- Ability to work cooperatively across departments and companies to build strong business relationships
- Computer-savvy with experience in digital process control, operational monitoring, and reporting tools
Preferred Experience
- Renewable energy or biomass cogeneration operations
- Steam generation, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, or industrial power generation
- Supervisory experience in utilities, pulp & paper, or industrial energy facilities
- Familiarity with process data analysis and digital control systems
