The location in Port Mellon, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Systems Operator - CAD. This job is full-time permanent.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the CAD Operator is accountable for maintaining and preserving the HSPP drawing archive, preparing CAD drawings, and drawing and asset number assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining SharePoint drawing archive; filing vendor drawings, ensuring SharePoint metadata is up to date, adding “As Constructed” mark-ups to drawings, managing version control, and controlling access to preserve archive integrity.
- Maintaining the legacy CAD Operator private drawing archive; filing vendor drawings, ensuring the excel metadata is up to date, adding “As Constructed” mark-ups to drawings, managing version control, and controlling access to preserve archive integrity.
- Maintaining drawing lists and Functional Location registers and preserving the legacy paper drawing archive and scanning/digital archiving of paper drawings.
- Assisting co-workers with finding drawings in the SharePoint drawing archive.
- MicroStation drawings to AutoCad conversion.
- Ensuring “As Constructed” mark-ups to process, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation dwg drawings.
- Developing .dwg drawings from engineer and trades hand sketches.
- Design work related to the candidates field of expertise.
- Assigning drawing numbers and Functional Location asset numbers.
Qualifications
- Associate Certificate in Computer Aided Design Technology (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of CAD experience on large infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in 2D AutoCad and MicroStation.
- Proficient in in the use of MS Office software including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Visio.
- Working knowledge of engineering design principles and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and understand specifications.
- Ability to create drawings including plan views, profiles, details and schematics.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting objectives on multitasking, accuracy, recognition of discrepancies, and timelines.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly rate of $39.747 per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement
- Overtime is compensated per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement
- Comprehensive benefits package including extended health/dental coverage and pension.
