The location in Port Melon, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Log Yard Labourer. This job is full-time permanent.

Education and Experience:

» While formal education isn’t always required, having a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial

Skills and Abilities:

» Understanding safety procedures and guidelines is crucial. Log yard laborers work with heavy materials and machinery, so safety precautions are vital.

» Log yard work happens outdoors, so the ability to work in various weather conditions is necessary.

» Log yard laborers need physical endurance and the ability to lift heavy objects.

» Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

» Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.

» Proficiency in operating equipment is essential. This includes using tools like chainsaws, forklifts, and other machinery commonly found in log yards.

Certifications and Licenses:

Valid driver’s license is highly preferred.

» Valid first aid level 3 certificate or willingness to be put through the course will be given priority in hiring process. 

Additional Requirements:

Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, and overtime as needed.

» Completion of pre-employment screening processes, reference check, prior work verification.

» Ability to make it to and from work on a daily basis

Responsibilities:

» Supporting skilled tradespeople by providing additional labor.

» Helping with tasks that require physical effort.

» Regularly inspecting equipment (such as cables, bunks, stakes, lift straps) to ensure they are defect-free and in good working order.
