The location in [[Port Mellon]], [[BC]], [[Howe Sound Pulp & Paper]], is seeking talent to fill the position of [[Finacial Controller]]

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, accounting, cash management, financial analysis, and forecasting at the mill. This role provides leadership to the accounting and finance team, ensuring accurate financial information is available to support decision-making and operational success. The controller will also ensure compliance with internal controls and relevant financial regulations.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, put in place and oversee internal financial controls to ensure adequate use of the Company’s assets;
  • Prepare financial results and reliable forecasts in a timely fashion and provide departmental budgets/forecast and financial information to ensure effective cost control;
  • Take advantage of opportunities to reduce expenses and increase revenues;
  • Collaborate with operations personnel to ensure that daily and strategic decisions are sound from the financial standpoint, and work with managers on all levels and as a member of the senior management team to make sound daily and strategic decisions;
  • Coordinate the fixed asset planning process;
  • Perform ongoing analysis of financial performance;
  • Ensure compliance with all the Company’s regulatory policies and practices, and ensure that administrative procedures respect audit supervision requirements;
  • Ensure the most rigorous safety standards are applied to the work environment;
  • Act as an intermediary between the operations team and the corporate finance team;
  • Maintain the integrity and security of financial information;

Required Skills and Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate university degree coupled with a professional Accounting Designation and a track record of experience and success in a senior accounting or finance position, such as Assistant/Divisional/Mill Controller, or Director in a manufacturing environment. He/she will bring exceptional business and financial acumen, and a keen desire to contribute to the business through the critical reporting that they provide. A skilled leader and mentor of people, the ideal candidate will bring technical rigour applied in the wider context of business decision making. The ability to adapt to and understand a complex and constantly changing business environment and be able to keep pace with a company going through significant growth and change is critical.

Reporting to the Regional Controller and the Vice President and Controller, Pulp and Paper, you will be part of a stimulating and enthusiastic team. You will oversee the daily activities of several subordinates and will be responsible for their professional development.
