The Howe Sound Mill located on the Sunshine Coast, BC is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student for a 4 month work term starting in May 2026.
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, you will assist in supporting with the functional location development for approximately 94 assets across multiple capital projects, including the BMS Upgrade, DCS Modernization, Bale PLC Upgrade, DNB Washer Vat Replacement, and Landfill Expansion projects. Work included establishing ~30 functional locations for the BMS Upgrade, ~40 in Area 610 for the DCS Modernization (within ~160 total across four project areas), ~20 for the Bale PLC Upgrade, and additional locations supporting the DNB Washer Vat Replacement and Landfill Expansion projects.
Responsibilities:
- Collect drawings and purchasing information from vendors.
- Create material request for new parts.
- Build BOMs in SAP.
- Build maintenance equipment folders.
- Create preventative maintenance WOs.
- Update maintenance procedures (as applicable).
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program at a recognized university.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
Please note that:
- Public transportation on the Sunshine Coast is extremely limited, and the successful applicant will require a personal vehicle for daily living and commuting to work.
- HSPP will not be providing housing; the successful candidate will be responsible for securing their own accommodation.
