The location in Port Mellon, British Columbia, is seeking talent to fill the position of Buyer
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Buyer will procure, negotiate and administer agreements for materials and services, in compliance with Domtar Corporate Policies and Guidelines and applicable legislation.
- Supports corporate purchasing activities by recommending the consolidation and standardization of common products and services to increase leverage and maximize savings.
- Maintains a high standard of ethics and treat suppliers and contractors equitably in connection with sourcing, solicitation, award processes and decisions.
- Promotes and provides a safe workplace and support the implementation of health & safety programs.
- Sources and procures supplies, services and other goods, ensuring they meet or exceed internal expectations.
- Reviews and analyzes supplier / contractors’ proposals and make selection recommendations to end user.
- Facilitates the sourcing of site materials and services by communicating business needs to vendors / service providers and clarifying vendor issues to site team.
- Keeps up to date with new products, equipment and suppliers to recommend improvements in the quality, terms, delivery schedules of materials and services purchased.
- Reviews all purchasing requests to ensure consistency with Corporate Policy and Guidelines, purchasing procedures and standards and applicable legislation.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all departments at the site and sister sites.
