The location in Port Mellon, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Area Engineer, Central. This job is full-time permanent.
Reporting to the Engineer Manager, the Area Engineer, Central is accountable for and acting as Project Manager of CapEx and Maintenance Projects within the central services of Howe Sound production areas including, but not limited to; Lake 7 Dam, Landfill Site Development, Marine Facilities, Railroads, Vehicle and Utility Bridges, and Forest Service Roads.
Additionally, this position is responsible for conducting annual inspection of anchor points for fall protection, structural steel maintenance, engineering of miscellaneous structure components, and owner acceptance review of 3rd party civil/structural drawings for all millsite CapEx projects.
Responsibilities
- Preparing budget cost estimates for CapEx projects.
- Scope development, scheduling, and procurement for maintenance and CapEx projects.
- Project Management of maintenance and CapEX projects (ensuring scope, schedule, and budgets for maintenance and CapEx projects are met. All aspects of PMBOK apply).
- Annual inspection of fall protection anchor points.
- Inspection/Engineering design (P.Eng seal) of miscellaneous structural components such as repairs to bent/damaged structural steel, design of small platforms and staircases, etc.
- Owner acceptance review of 3rd party civil/structural drawings.
- Coordinating Registered Professional for HSPP Forest Service Roads (less than 10km or road - refer to EGBC Guideline “Professional Services in the Forest Sector: Forest Road” for details).
- Adherence to all HSPP, WSBC, and government regulations pertaining to design and implementation of assigned projects and safe work practices of contractors/consultants.
Qualifications
- Professional Structural Engineer or Civil Engineer. Structural Engineer (P.Eng) preferred.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a Canadian province. EGBC registration preferred.
- Competent in inspection of structural steel and design of platforms and catwalks.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager on projects up to $5 million.
- Experience work as a Forest Service Road Coordinating Registered Professional considered an asset.
- PMP designation is considered an asset.
- Certified Welding Inspector certification considered an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervision abilities.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
Compensation & Benefits
- $104,000 - $127,000 CAD per annum (Actual salary offer will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
