The location in Nekoosa, (Wisconsin, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Welder Apprentice. This job is full-time permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to employer safety practices and procedures.
- Identify and interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics.
- Perform welds using all processes, positions, and material available, according to prescribed techniques and industry standards.
- Weld fabricated components of carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron and perform welds in all positions –flat, horizontal, vertical up and down.
- Produce precision fabricated parts and assemblies according to specifications.
- Work in conjunction with other crews and lead persons.
Required Qualifications:
- Apprentices must meet established test standards and have a strong work record, with exceptional safety and attendance records.
- Prior experience with metal fabrication.
- Knowledge of manual and mechanical welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, GTAW, stick and wire feed.
- Solid computer skills and experience with electronic work orders.
- Respond quickly to priority changes, work well under pressure, and perform quality work in a safe and efficient manner.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry will be considered an asset.
- Completion of an accredited welder’s training program.
Must be willing to meet the following requirements:
- Available to work varying hours that may include shift, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to emergency call-ins.
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Wear the required personal protective equipment including being respirator qualified.
- Complete standard Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses during the first year of apprenticeship and maintain such certification throughout career.
- Work in industrial conditions (i.e., warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, and heavy machinery or working at heights with proper safety training and safety protection)
You will be required to successfully complete a selection process that could include interviews, an employment background check, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness-for-duty test (for some positions).
