The location in Fort Mill, (South Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Controller - POS. This job is full-time permanent.

 

Overview: Domtar is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller– POS to lead financial operations for one of our key Paper & Packaging businesses. This role is critical in ensuring compliance, driving operational excellence, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Controller-POS will oversee a team of 14 and serve as a key financial steward for the division.

Your challenges:  

Core Financial Operations

  • Lead weekly AP Approval Meetings and oversee Friday batch approvals
  • Approve manual payments (JPM/HSBC) and manage bank signatory transitions
  • Make ACH Positive Pay decisions and oversee cash transfers to Treasury
  • Maintain and update bank signatory records in coordination with leadership
  • Manage borrowing base reporting and compliance

Financial Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Ensure full compliance with company policies and GAAP
  • Support annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes
  • Present financial outlooks, forecasts, and variance analyses to senior leadership
  • Own the month-end close calendar and quarterback the close process
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews and maintain BS monthly balance files
  • Lead monthly plant review meetings and quarterly SOX certification
  • Review and approve capital expenditures and inventory write-offs
  • Support FBAR filings and ensure timely information delivery for compliance

Tax & Regulatory Coordination

  • Work with 3rd party tax firm on indirect tax compliance and with internal tax department for direct tax items
  • Sign off on sales tax exemption certificates and manage OH/OR CAT tax filings
  • Respond to legal and tax notices across jurisdictions
  • Coordinate with external advisors on tax filings and regulatory updates
  • Oversee Mexico-based consulting/bookkeeping operations

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor a team of 14, including team meetings and 1:1s
  • Partner with Commercial and Ops Finance leadership to align financial strategy
  • Lead monthly review meetings with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial systems and processes

Your profile:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and ERP systems
  • Proven ability to manage month-end close and financial reporting cycles
