The location in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Technician, Building. This job is full-time permanent.

The Building Services group’s mission is to maintain the integrity of the building, facilities, and mechanical systems at Maison Domtar, Jardin Domtar, and CPE Origami in order to provide employees with a functional and safe work environment that supports efficiency and productivity.

Reporting to the Building Services Supervisor, your primary responsibility as a Technician will be to maintain and ensure the proper operation of machinery and mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic systems at Maison Domtar and Jardin Domtar. You will be responsible for identifying issues and ensuring they are repaired within a reasonable timeframe.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:
•    Inspecting the operation of electrical, mechanical, electronic, and environmental control systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, refrigeration equipment, electrical distribution and lighting systems, water treatment systems, and elevators, and overseeing their maintenance;
•    Following up on the building maintenance schedule by communicating with suppliers to coordinate work and supervising contractors to ensure that their work meets building management standards;
•    Maintaining the building’s lighting and sanitary supplies, planning necessary purchases, and placing material orders;
•    Responding to various employee requests;
•    Performing maintenance work and ensuring that the interior, exterior, surrounding areas, and entire corporate head office property are kept clean and safe, including snow removal, litter collection, and cleaning slippery floors;
•    Being available in the event of mechanical emergencies outside regular working hours, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Your profile:
•    You hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in General Building Maintenance or equivalent technical training;
•    You have at least five (5) years of experience in building mechanics or a related field;
•    You hold a forklift operator’s licence;
•    You are methodical, thorough, and committed to delivering high-quality work;
•    You have good manual dexterity;
•    You demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions in emergency situations;
•    You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with the public;
•    You are proficient in spoken and written French and have oral proficiency in English.
