The location in Calhoun, (Tennessee, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Senior Accountant. This job is full-time permanent.
Overview: The Senior Cost Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial performance of the mill through cost analysis, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This position partners closely with operations and leadership teams to provide meaningful financial insights, ensure accounting accuracy, and support strategic decision-making in a manufacturing environment.
Your challenges:
• Participate in month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity
• Provide detailed variance analysis and financial reporting to department leaders and management
• Analyze budget-to-actual results and communicate key operational and financial drivers
• Conduct cost analysis and profitability reporting to support business and operational decisions
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support budgeting initiatives
• Assist with internal audits, compliance reviews, and implementation of internal controls
• Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to strengthen efficiencies and controls
• Support external audit activities and tax preparation processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance SAP accounting and reporting processes
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing financial analysis activities
Your skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret financial data and trends
• Advanced Excel skills with strong systems aptitude
• Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across all levels of the organization
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices and maintaining a strong safety mindset
Your profile:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience required
• Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting principles
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and variance analysis
• Experience with internal audit processes, internal controls, and compliance activities
• Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
• SAP experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
