The location in Kingsport, (Tennessee, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Maintenance Superintendent. This job is full-time permanent.
This position is part of the Kingsport Packaging Mill Maintenance Team and plays a critical role in the overall reliability and performance of manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. The Maintenance Superintendent’s primary purpose is to lead the team of salary and hourly mechanical and electrical maintenance employees to safely maintain plant equipment at optimum efficiency and to facilitate the team’s use of their troubleshooting skills and experiences to resolve mechanical problems that may occur.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees day-to-day operations of salary mechanical maintenance team, including but not limited to safety, scheduling, timekeeping, training / development, performance, appropriate behavior, coaching / counseling etc.
- Coordinates equipment and facility maintenance / repairs with Operations and other key personnel to:
- minimize downtime
- ensure work is properly and safely completed and in a timely manner
- ensure preventive maintenance is performed
- Collaborates with Operations Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and other key personnel to plan work assignments, schedule projects, and determine cost estimates / budget.
- Identifies and implements improvements in process and equipment reliability across the Mill by working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel.
- Supports maintenance team by assisting with resolving technical issues and repair procedures / troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of mechanical maintenance leadership experience in a pulp & paper setting
- B.S. in Engineering; or associate degree in a maintenance-related field
- Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated strong leadership skills and experience leading a manufacturing mechanical and/or electrical maintenance team to achieve excellent results
- Ability to lead safety improvements through personal commitment and procedures; knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and listening communication skills
- Analytical, critical thinking, and proven problem-solving skills
- Proven success building a successful team
- Proficient planning, organization, and time-management skills
- Results focused and detail oriented
- High degree of computer literacy, including computer-based maintenance software (SAP) and Microsoft Office
- Knowledgeable in areas of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and reliability
- Experience developing and managing a maintenance budget
- Experience in development and implementation of maintenance training programs
- Rotating equipment troubleshooting aptitude
