The location in Miami, (Florida, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Industrial Maintenance Machinist. This job is full-time permanent.

Position Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Machinist is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, modifying, and restoring precision mechanical components that support the reliable operation of a continuous-process manufacturing facility. This role minimizes production downtime by fabricating custom replacement parts, rebuilding critical equipment components, and providing machining support for maintenance, reliability, and capital improvement initiatives. The position requires a high level of precision, mechanical aptitude, and proficiency with conventional machine shop equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manufacture precision mechanical components including shafts, bushings, sleeves, spacers, keys, pins, roll components, and other custom-machined parts.
• Repair and restore pumps, gearboxes, bearing journals, rotating equipment, and other mechanical assemblies.
• Set up and operate conventional machine shop equipment including engine lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, and related equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and mechanical sketches to determine machining requirements.
• Reverse engineer worn, damaged, or obsolete components when drawings or specifications are unavailable.
• Perform precision measurements and inspections using calibrated instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and other metrology equipment.
• Select appropriate materials, tooling, cutting parameters, machining methods, and workholding techniques for each application.
• Support preventive maintenance activities, equipment rebuilds, emergency repairs, and reliability improvement projects.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, and reliability personnel to identify and implement equipment improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of machining work, repairs, and fabricated components.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine shop while following all company safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a machinist apprenticeship, vocational training, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of industrial machining experience in a manufacturing or maintenance environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of machining practices, metal properties, fits and tolerances, and mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and mechanical blueprints.
• Proficiency operating manual machine tools including engine lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders.
• Experience repairing industrial mechanical equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
• Ability to perform precision measurements using standard inspection instruments.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pulp and paper, steel, chemical processing, mining, power generation, or other continuous-process manufacturing environments.
• Welding or metal fabrication experience.
• Knowledge of predictive or reliability-centered maintenance practices.
• Experience reverse engineering mechanical components.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

• Fluency in both English and Spanish is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
• Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly; heavier loads with assistance or mechanical lifting equipment.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm movements while operating machine tools.
• Work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, vibration, heat, dust, lubricants, and moving mechanical equipment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, and other required safety equipment.

Working Conditions

This position works in both machine shop and production environments supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation. Occasional overtime, call-ins, weekend work, and scheduled shutdown support may be required to meet operational needs.
