Domtar Paper in Hawesville, Kentucky has an opening for an Engineering Manager. This position leads a multi-disciplined engineering group where the primary focus is to deliver organizational projects including process improvements, equipment upgrades, and cost savings opportunities at the site level. Delivery of projects will be driven by applying proven engineering practices, project management methodologies, and the ability to build partnerships and influence cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, manage and develop site engineering group comprised of engineers and specialists in the mechanical, electrical, and process control engineering disciplines
- Responsible for delivery (cost, schedule, validation) tracking, and reporting of projects including equipment upgrades, cost saving initiatives, and process improvements affecting manufacturing lines
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of the overall engineering and reliability processes and activities to ensure maximum equipment reliability and assets preservation
- Ensure all planned projects are implemented on time, on budget and meet the stated objective
- Manage site capital budget coordination, AR development, cost tracking and project execution methodologies
- Responsible for the successful delivery of major technical projects
- Ensure process evaluations are completed for product and process changes to confirm long-term product quality and process viability
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in manufacturing environment delivering complex projects
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, vendor/consultant selection and management/budget responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Trained in analytical troubleshooting methodology
- Experience in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley and Siemens electrical systems/programming and power & control systems
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- PE Certification
- Completed a higher level of training in Reliability
- Experience in Pulp and Paper industry
- Knowledge of Project Management Best Practices and Methodology (FEL process)
- Use and knowledge of SAP’s Plant and Materials Management

- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions via evaluation of complex data
- Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills and is proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and MS Project
- Can work extended hours and travel
