The location in Glenwood, (Arkansas, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Quality Control Supervisor. This job is full-time permanent.
Will work under moderate to limited supervision, directs and supervises all activities in lumber manufacturing quality control process for sawmill.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Provides training and certification of lumber grading employees.
- Assists in implementation of policies and procedures assigned by supervisor.
- Conducts quality control checks throughout lumber manufacturing process including but not limited to log bucking accuracy, debarking quality, sawing deviation, target size accuracy, trimmer efficiency, stacking quality, drying quality and planer quality.
- Reports quality parameter performance on a routine basis and assists in correcting deficiencies.
- Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the company and the community.
- Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing or handling hazardous or non-hazardous materials and wastes.
- Maintains the professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Performs work following safety procedures and practices.
- Regular attendance is required between the assigned start and end times for work. Exhibits regular and punctual attendance habit to comply with existing attendance requirements.
- It is an essential function of the job that the individual will not be a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves, others, or property. Direct threat is defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation without creating an undue hardship on the Company.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a lumber mill environment. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by the company including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing and footwear in appropriate areas and must follow safety practices.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time.
SAFETY SENSTITIVE
This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because it includes as part of the job duties the operating or monitoring of heavy equipment or machinery, as well as working with and around hazardous materials. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of the incumbent and others, the incumbent must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while operating or monitoring heavy equipment or machinery, as well as while working with and around hazardous materials.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
The incumbent must have:
- College degree preferred.
- 5 years experience in lumber manufacturing.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Have excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Have excellent problem solving skills.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
- Working knowledge of milling activities.
- Knowledge and understanding of log specs.
- Experience with S.P.I.B inspections.
