The location in Childersburg, Al is seeking talent to fill the position of Utilities Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator. This job is a salary excempt position.
Primary Purpose
Lead and manage assigned hourly employees to accomplish needed maintenance repairs associated with the safe, productive and efficient performance of the mill assets. This includes the assessment, revision and possible development of processes and procedures associated with the completion of maintenance work orders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safety
- Active participation in daily toolbox and monthly safety meetings, promoting engagement in the safety process, and ensuring the substance of the meetings.
- The safety goal is zero incidents by utilizing all of the safety procedures and 360 pre task risk analysis.
- Drive crew to identify more near misses. (Each crew member needs to enter 2 near misses/ 6 months).
- Lead safety one on ones and drive accountability.
- Perform 360 risk analysis audits and ensure quality forms are created identifying and mitigating hazards.
- Environmental
- Work with the Planner to schedule and assign critical environmental PM jobs. Verify all paperwork is filled out properly and returned to the Planner and or Reliability Engineer to be filed.
- Work with crew to ensure there are no environmental incidents associated with assigned work.
- Be vigilant and report any environmental issues found or reported.
- Manage Tech’s to improve housekeeping.
- Team Work
- Exhibit excellent cooperation with Planners, Operations Coordinators, Operations Maintenance and peers.
- Be the team leader and direct the proper actions of crew.
- Crisis Management
- Actively participate in process equipment trouble shooting and failure analysis.
- Work with Planner to secure parts during emergencies.
- Work with operations coordinators to determine prioritization of break-in work and effective scheduling of available manpower.
- Quality
- Set high standards and expectations with crew to deliver quality work, minimizing rework and improving reliability.
- Set high priority on quality related work orders.
- Hold crew accountable for finishing job and returning work order hard copy with feedback.
- Report any repetitive issues to the Reliability Engineers.
- Work with crafts people, Planners, and others as needed to improve work procedures.
- Drive precision maintenance program and identify individual training requirements and work with reliability engineers to accomplish training.
- Productivity
- Minimize ride-arounds and wasted time.
- Hold crews accountable for break times and lunch times.
- Recommends and administers disciplinary action when appropriate
- Participate in the hourly hiring process, including interviewing process and making recommendations on which candidates to hire.
- Push crew to work until the end of the workday.
- Coach crew on keeping the shop prepared to perform scheduled work. (Proper PPE for the assigned job, proper tools for the assigned job, etc.)
- Conduct annual performance review of hourly employees.
- Evaluates probationary new hire maintenance employees and recommends retention or termination.
- Make sure craftsmen have the correct tool to perform the job correctly and safely.
- Planning and Scheduling
- Participate in daily maintenance meetings with the Operations Coordinators and Operations Maintenance Coordinator.
- Run Unplanned Work Order Report for the prior day and review at the maintenance meeting.
- Run report for new Work Request for the prior day and review at the maintenance meeting.
- Provide shutdown coordination for crew and contractors developing solutions to issues which may arise during the workday.
- Schedule a full day’s work for every craftsperson.
- Build and maintain weekly schedule, incorporating compliance with TEW KPI’s.
- Lead weekly schedule meeting.
- Monitor work backlog with OMC and set daily work priorities
- Housekeeping
- Drive crew to maintain shops, vehicles, work areas, etc. in a satisfactory condition.
- Perform housekeeping inspections as assigned.
- General Job Duties
- Write Work requests as needed.
- Follow up on emergency work orders in assigned areas; this includes closing those work orders the CMMS (SAP) system.
- Works with Maintenance Planner and Reliability Engineer in determining equipment purchases and vendor selection.
- Participate in morning Daily Direction Setting meetings.
- Reviews and approve hourly time cards and enters explanations for absences in time system.
- Ensure completion of work orders, feedback forms, precision maintenance forms, return to service forms and creation of new work orders for found work.
- Ensures completion of hourly employee mill training audit requirements to include: CBT’s, Near miss reporting, Safety Training attendance, One on One reviews, hearing test, respirator fit test, etc.
- Ensures completion of work order in SAP and reviews backlog with OMC.
- Maintains maintenance shop and performs safety inspections corrects deficiencies.
- Ensures annual completion of TAG reviews for craftsmen.
- Maintains maintenance shop housekeeping with regular cleaning schedule and audits.
Knowledge and Experience
- Three (5) or more years supervisory experience in maintenance or a related field.
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
- Excellent skills in written and oral communication.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think “outside the box”.
- Functional use of Microsoft Office and maintenance systems.
- Highly organized and uses efficient work methods.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and continue to develop knowledge and skills.
- SAP experience
