The location in Childersburg, Alabama is seeking talent to fill the position of Recovery Operations Coordinator. This job is full time and onsite.
The Recovery Operations Coordinator supports and directs daily operations in the Recovery Boiler and Evaporator area, works closely with the Recausticizing and Lime Kiln Operations Coordinator, and cooperates with other production areas to achieve corporate and mill goals for safety, environmental compliance, production, and reliability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate clear expectations for area operating personnel regarding safety, environmental compliance, and production.
- Ensure compliance within all environmental parameters by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points and develops specific actions to address identified liabilities.
- Conduct one-on-one safety and environmental reviews with all direct reports as required.
- Perform safety and housekeeping audits as directed and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Monitor process parameters and provide feedback to operations personnel to maintain consistent high quality production.
- Resolve operational problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and taking action needed to address the issues.
- Anticipate training needs and schedule training time and training classes to develop operators for advanced positions.
- Achieve and maintain full compliance with all recovery boiler safety requirements per BLRBAC and NFPA.
- Review and prioritize maintenance work weekly to maintain a high level of process reliability.
- Identify and document repair needs and improvement ideas for shutdown planning.
- Cooperate with maintenance coordinators and planners to maximize area equipment reliability and optimize maintenance resources.
- Develop and execute operational plans for plant shutdowns and startups to maximize maintenance time and minimize process downtime.
- Establish and implement operational guidelines and procedures to control costs.
- Evaluate the process for potential areas of improvement and develop plans for purchasing and implementation.
- Coordinate with mill engineering personnel to develop and implement capital improvements.
- Create, maintain, and revise area Lock Out/Tag Out and operating procedures.
- Guarantee availability of required PPE gear for area personnel.
- Develop operating budget proposals for the Recovery department.
- Develop maintenance and repair budget proposals for the Recovery department
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field
- 2–3 years of experience in recovery boiler operation preferred
- 3 or more years of experience in the manufacturing industry
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good written communication skills.
- Proficient with standard administrative software.
