The location in Calhoun, TN, is seeking talent to fill the position of Tissue Machine Subject Matter Expert. This job is Salaried Exempt.
Primary Purpose:
The Tissue Machine Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides technical process expertise and guidance to all internal customers for the business. Additionally, the SME must recognize opportunities for process improvements and develop them to completion.
The SME will provide technically focused process information and analyses to internal customers. The SME will also provide broader levels of support for specific short-term needs mill-wide. As the business needs change or grow, the SME will perform a larger scope of duties as outlined in following sections under “Major Accountabilities.”
Major Accountabilities:
The scope of the position will include frequent contact with all departments and levels of the Tissue Machine. The SME is assigned to the Tissue Machine process area; they will also work with and support various Process Management Teams.
This position will have a focus and ownership of Technical Support, Downtime reduction, and Machine Health focus.
Overview
The SME will participate in Tissue Machine Team activities to help teams achieve their key process goals. In addition, the SME is expected to perform the duties of an Individual Contributor on the Tissue Machine to ensure the production improvements for the machine while improving technical skills of the operational teams
The SME will oversee and coordinate operational changes to the machine to grow knowledge of the process within the operating teams. Coordination of this work may involve assistance from the Training team to complete the work. This position will provide startup support and facilitate technical training for the Operational group. Duties will include:
- Train/Assist crews with trouble shooting runnability/machine performance issues
- Determine root causes for breaks/downtime
- Ensure proper machine cleanliness/wash-ups
- Review/resolve threading issues
- Assist in creping/cleaning blade and Yankee chemistry management
- Review Camera Data footage, ensure the breaks are correctly identified and educate teams on the correct causes of breaks and incorrectly identified breaks
- Understand and make recommendations for the implementation of new process equipment and chemistries.
- Participate in all aspects of trials, including: vendor/technology selection, safety training, risk mitigation, objectives and goals development, and detailed communications.
- Review and understand vibration reports, communicate to Technical Team Leader any potential issues. Provide any recommendations on corrective actions based on the vibration report.
- Review all vendor supplied reports (roll/cover condition, fabrics, etc) and propose actions as necessary
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a degree in Chemical Engineering or Pulp & Paper Science/Technology or equivalent.
A minimum of five years’ pulp and paper process experience is required for the
Subject Matter Expert position.
Must be competent to work with software applications.
Must be able to work in a team-based management environment with minimal supervision.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
Must be self-managed, with the ability to work with cross-functional team.
