Process Control Specialist

The location in Bennettsville, (South Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Process Control Specialist. This job is full-time permanent.

 

This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will have primary responsibilities to provide support for the Distributed Control System (DCS) software/hardware as well as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) across the Mill.  The Process Control Specialist will work with Maintenance, Operations, and technical personnel to optimize existing control systems as well as to plan and design new applications.  This role will become fully integrated into the Mill, working directly with operations and management with an assigned mentor to maximize growth and development.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Responsible for optimization of existing mill control systems

Responsible for plan, design, and implementation of control systems / new applications

Guide Operational and Electrical Maintenance work teams during technical troubleshooting of Mill’s process control systems

Work effectively with every level of the organization

Be a safety advocate, lead by example

Drive team efforts to identify root cause of issues, identify permanent corrective actions, document in mill-wide database, and provide follow-up

 

Required Qualifications / Professional Experience:

B.S. / M.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university; other engineering degrees, related military experience, or five (5) years of practical experience in Process Control Systems will be considered

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably paper manufacturing

Ability to provide on-call, after hours, and weekend coverage as needed

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

Technical writing and presentation skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of Process Control Fundamentals (basics of controls loops and elementaries functionality as related to process/production requirements)

Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various departments and individuals (internal and external)

Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices; ability to comply with and enforce Company safety and environmental policies / procedures

Well-developed troubleshooting skills - analytical, critical thinking and problem solving

Experience troubleshooting instrumentation hardware (i.e. field devices, drives, etc.)

Team-player attitude, with the ability to work with diverse teams, multiple organizational levels and across business functions

Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions, and resolve issues efficiently and effectively

Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to multi-task

Knowledge of ABB and Rockwell/Allen Bradley control systems

VM Ware or Hyper V experience

Results focused and detail-oriented

High level of initiative and motivation

Resourceful, quick learner and dependable

Demonstrated leadership skills

Experience configuring and troubleshooting communication links (i.e. OPC, Modbus, etc.)

Working knowledge of ParcView and SAP
