Position Summary

The Training Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of training programs supporting Woodyard, Pulp, and Power operations. This role ensures training systems are effective, compliant, and aligned with operational needs by integrating formal training processes, on-the-job training (OJT), and qualification systems.

The position serves as a bridge between leadership, subject matter experts, and the hourly workforce, ensuring workforce readiness, skill development, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage training programs, analyze needs, and establish priorities. 
  • Coordinate orientation, field training, and hands-on learning. 
  • Coordinate qualification processes including task verification and support board reviews. 
  • Administer learning management system(s) to include user setup, course assignments, and progress tracking.
  • Maintain accurate and complete employee training records and documentation.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate training effectiveness, identify skill gaps, and implement improvements to training programs and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and corporate training requirements.
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer from subject matter experts into standardized training materials and job instruction.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date SOPs, manuals, and training materials. 
  • Ensure field training aligns with documented procedures, standards, and expectations.
  • Supervise hourly training leaders and support leadership with coaching.
  • Maintain and continuously improve structured training programs and qualification processes.
  • Communicate training progress and qualification status to leadership, Human Resources, and schedulers.

Qualifications 

Education & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in training coordination, Learning & Development, or Human Resources support, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience coordinating training programs, including scheduling, tracking, and reporting
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training compliance requirements

 

OR

 

Operational Experience

  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or mill environment with strong knowledge of processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of operational workflows and ability to align training with production needs
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting hourly workforce training, onboarding, or skills development initiatives
  • Ability to align training with operational workflows and production needs

 

AND

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.

  • Attention to Detail & Process Management - High level of accuracy in tracking training data, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with processes and standards.

Working Conditions 

  • Work is performed in a combination of office and industrial mill environments, with regular time spent on the production floor
  • Exposure to high noise levels, heat, humidity, dust, and moving machinery; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
  • Requires the ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, and navigate large industrial areas for extended periods
  • Must be comfortable working around manufacturing equipment, chemicals, and pulp processes in compliance with safety standards
  • Work environment is fast-paced and production-driven, with shifting priorities based on operational needs
  • May require flexibility in schedule, including early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekend support to accommodate multiple shifts
  • Interaction with hourly and salaried employees across departments in a dynamic team environment
  • Adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements is mandatory
