Program Opportunities
Internship: A short work experience program typically lasting between 10-12 weeks in between the Spring and Fall semesters/quarters with work hours up to 40 hours per week.
Cooperative education (co-op): A longer work experience program typically lasting 4-12 months following semester(s)/quarters such as Spring (January-May) or Fall (August-December). Students may take a semester/quarter(s) off or attend part-time while working between 15-40 hours per week.
Program periods:
- Spring co-op – January to May 2027
- Summer internship – May to August 2027
- Summer to Fall co-op – May to December 2027
- Fall co-op – August to December 2027
What You Will Do
- Contribute to projects that improve production, reliability, safety, quality, sustainability, and operational performance.
- Analyze operational data, production costs, and process performance to identify improvement opportunities and develop recommendations.
- Support engineering projects from concept through implementation, including design, estimating, drafting, documentation, and field execution.
- Assist with process optimization, troubleshooting, quality improvements, and reliability initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineers, operations, maintenance teams, and contractors to solve technical challenges and support project execution.
- Research, develop, and document processes, standards, and procedures for operational improvements.
- Present project findings and recommendations to mill teams.
- Gain hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing systems, instrumentation, maintenance activities, and capital projects.
Qualifications
- Sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
- Preferred GPA 3.0 or higher
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- CAD experience preferred but not required
- Technical writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills
