- Prepare and submit required environmental reports and permits.
- Maintain and update environmental management systems and documentation.
- Investigate and respond to environmental incidents.
- Review capital improvement projects for permit and regulatory impacts.
- Conduct environmental training for employees and contractors.
- Sustainability:
-
- Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to implement pollution prevention and waste minimization strategies.
- Support energy and water conservation initiatives.
- Review capital improvement projects for sustainability impacts.
- Work with environmental personnel across the Domtar mill system.
- Involvement in our local community through volunteer efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in pulp and paper.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
- Experience with ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems.
- Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily on-site at the mill with regular exposure to industrial environments.
- Occasional travel for training, audits, or regulatory meetings.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and work in varying environmental conditions.
This is a safety sensitive position.
