Business Analyst, Ontario Woodlands

Our Thunder Bay location in Ontario, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Business Analyst, Ontario Woodlands. This job is permanent full-time.

Reporting to the Business Services Manager, the position is responsible for developing and managing the datasets and systems necessary to support Domtar’s fibre supply and related activities, including rate models, pricing structures, cost assessments, and related analyses.These analyses are critical to support rate negotiations, budget and forecast rate development and the evaluation of continuous improvement opportunities.  The position works collaboratively with internal teams across the division to support the achievement of divisional goals.

Your Challenges:  

  •      Ensure that the highest safety standards are met or exceeded throughout the operation.

Rate Development and Analysis

  •      Develop and maintain rate structures based on cost factors, business requirements, and market trends to support contract negotiations.
  •      Monitor and track key economic indicators to ensure rates are competitive with industry standards while optimizing profitability.
  •      Develop and set rates for the annual budget in line with corporate guidelines and financial objectives.
  •      Regularly update and maintain forecasts to account for changes in contract negotiations, operational costs, and other relevant factors, ensuring alignment with up-to-date cost structures.
  •      Manage and update the cost and rate database ensuring that benchmarks are current.

Data Analysis

  •      Provide historical contractor performance data analysis to support managers in making informed decisions.
  •      Provide analysis and support for operations in bid processes and evaluations.
  •      Provide analysis and support in the development and maintenance of Key Performance Indicators.
  •      Conduct financial modeling to evaluate the impact of different operation strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  •      Work collaboratively with internal teams (e.g., woodlands services, finance, operations, forestry, and management) to achieve divisional goals.

 

Your Skills: 

  •      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •      Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change.
  •      Excellent analytical skills to support sound decision-making
  •      Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  •      In-depth knowledge of MS Office and solid computer skills.
  •      Knowledge of data analytics, including macro development, programming (e.g., Python, R, SQL), to leverage data for advanced analysis and automation would be  considered a valuable asset.
  •      Ability to interpret complex data and perform quantitative analysis.
  •      Precision in pricing, cost assessment, and financial analysis to avoid costly errors.

 

Your Profile:   

  •      5 years relevant experience.
  •      Business Analyst Certification or equivalent is required.
