The location in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Senior Agent, Accounts Payables. This job is full-time permanent.

 

Overview: Under the direction of the Manager- Accounts Payable, the Sr Accounts Payable Agent is responsible for managing the accounts payable process, including verifying and processing invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies, and coordinating payments to vendors.


Your challenges:

  • Review and verify invoices for accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure that invoices are matched with purchase orders and receipts before payment is made.
  • Process invoices into the accounting system and update payment records.
  • Prepare and schedule timely payments to vendors and suppliers based on agreed terms.
  • Process checks, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries regarding outstanding payments, disputes, or discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate vendor contact details and payment history records.
  • Resolve issues with vendors, such as payment discrepancies or missing invoices.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and balance outstanding accounts.
  • Prepare various reports for management regarding payment schedules and vendor aging.
  • Ensure proper filing and archiving of records for auditing purposes.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring that all accounts payable transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting periods.
  • Prepare accruals for unpaid invoices and review for any unprocessed payments.
  • Ensure that accounts payable practices are in compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant financial regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize payment terms and reduce costs (e.g., early payment discounts).
  • Identify areas for improvement in the accounts payable process and recommend solutions to streamline operations.
  • Stay up to date with technology advancements (e.g., automation tools) to improve efficiency in AP tasks.


Your skills:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems 
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
  • Good communication skills, particularly for interacting with vendors and internal departments.


Your profile:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is often preferred.
