The location in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Senior Legal Counsel. This job is full-time permanent.
Overview: Reporting into the Vice-President, Legal Affairs – Wood Products, you will act as the lead in-house counsel on a wide range of merger and acquisition and divestiture projects. This is a critical role with high visibility across the organization, requiring strong legal acumen, project management skills, and cross-functional collaboration.
Your challenges:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor for M&A projects.
- Manage all legal aspects of M&A projects, including due diligence, regulatory approval, negotiation and drafting of complex agreements, and coordinating with internal cross-functional teams and external counsel to ensure timely and successful execution.
- Evaluate the legal implications of new M&A projects and partnerships.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks, ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations as well as alignment with business goals.
- Assist with the provision of legal services to the business units on commercial and litigation matters on an as-needed basis.

Your profile:
- Bilingual French and English (Required for all Corporate Positions)*.
- Bachelor’s degree in law with an accredited law school and admitted into a provincial bar.
- 7 years of experience in M&A, either at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department.
- Experience in corporate and commercial law, including contract drafting and negotiation.
- Experience in a manufacturing industry is a plus.
