Distribution Coordinator

The location in Kingsport Packaging, (Tennessee, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Distribution Coordinator. This job is full-time permanent.

 

This position’s primary responsibilities will be to manage day-to-day processing of distribution activities required to ensure we provide the on-time delivery service our customers deserve. The coordinator will clearly communicate the daily shipping instructions to the hourly shipping team and direct the flow of work to facilitate a safe and efficient operation. The coordinator will interact with OTR drivers, the Venture team as well as the rail crew to expedite services for the mill.  The coordinator will work to ensure that safety, quality, and productivity are values instilled and practiced within our work culture.  This position requires a strong desire for excellence, as well as the ability to drive ownership to the team level.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct team workflow and expectations as needed. Works with the shift team leader as well as logistic coordinators meet loading demands. Responsible for team results to include safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping.
  • Oversees loading of truck and rail to meet mill’s compliance standards.
  • Lead effective pre-shift meetings to include safety, quality, daily assignments, instructions, and put-away plans.
  • Coordinates dock moves with transportation team – prioritize load movements.
  • Check-in and assign doors to drivers and communicate to the loading team. Coordinates dock moves with transportation team – prioritize load movements.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts.
  • Follow-up on forklift, dock related maintenance issues.
  • Create BOL for live load drivers.  Ensure all rail is loaded and package as require for customers.
  • Leads the re-label and roll redress effort each day and works to ensure all rolls and loads are correctly handled during the shift.  Assists in auditing loads.  Provides effective communication and interaction with internal and external business partners, including fiber procurement, dedicated and contracted truck carriers, rail carriers, 3PL’s, sales, customer service, manufacturing facility personnel daily to assure Kingsport’s supply chain operates successfully.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and direct people to create ownership that drives continuous improvement
  • Autoprod and SAP experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supply chain management.
  • Successful history of working in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communicator with the ability to deal with all levels within the organization and outside resources (i.e. vendors, contractors, etc.)
  • Excellent planning / scheduling, organization, and time-management and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, driving them to completion

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work with multiple internal and external customers/suppliers.
  • Proven computer skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • A self-motivated individual who applies innovative approaches while performing a variety of changing task
  • Preferred experience in a Flow to Work, High Performance Work System
