The location in Fort Mill, (South Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Manager, HR Converting. This job is full-time permanent.
Reporting to the Director, HR Converting & Support Functions, the Converting HR Manager will be primarily responsible for leading HR for Domtar’s converting sites and have direct HR responsibility for Domtar’s coating site, West Carrollton. This role will have day-to-day responsibility of providing coaching, development and direct guidance to the HR Advisors at each local converting and coating site to achieve business goals and priorities. This role will partner with the Director, HR and the Senior Director of Operations Converting to ensure consistent and fair policies, practices and processes across the sites. This role will also be directly responsible for leading and providing union guidance to our bargaining unit sites (West Carrollton & Owensboro).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of HR Advisors through development plans, one-on-one coaching, team meetings, and other forms of engagement to drive continuous improvement and achievement of goals
- Provide direct HR Business Partnership support to West Carrollton Plant Manager, as well as partnering with Director HR Converting & Sr. Director Operations Converting to provide thought partnership in areas such as employee relations, talent management, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Provide guidance and coaching to HR Advisors on a day-to-day basis related to employee relations items
- Communicate and ensure alignment and execution on programs and practices across the HR team that are aligned with the BU, such as performance management, succession planning, employee engagement initiatives, compliance training.
Job Characteristics
- Viewed by his/her internal and external customers as a subject matter expert on human resources items including but not limited to providing coaching and counseling on employee relations matters, performance management, human capital, succession planning, change management, etc.
- Ability to motivate, influence and manage a team with matrix reporting relationships.
- Broad scope of influence on both the operations/converting functions
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Psychology, Labor Relations or other related business field
- 5-7 years of direct HR business partner experience required
- 0-2 years of direct managerial experience required
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Preferred Education/Experience
- HR business partner experience in a unionized manufacturing setting preferred
- Direct labor and employee relations experience preferred
