Vice President, Legal Affairs

The location in Fort Mill, (South Carolina, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Vice President, Legal Affairs. This job is full-time permanent.

Position Summary:  This position will provide comprehensive legal advice to the CLO and other company leaders, with responsibilities including support on any and all matters as needed, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and treasury matters, litigation, corporate governance matters, labor and employment matters, international trade matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, legal risk management in view of overall business objectives, and legal department systems improvement. The position further includes assisting with the provision of legal services to the business units on an as-needed basis.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

              

  • Advise the CLO and other senior executives on complex legal issues impacting strategic business matters and decision-making. 
  • Identify potential legal risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies. 
  • Evaluate legal implications of new business ventures, acquisitions, and partnerships. 
  • Partner with Finance and Treasury on managing the corporation’s financial obligations
  • Support corporate governance practices, including corporate filings, and compliance with relevant regulations. 
  • Manage legal disputes and litigation, working closely with external counsel to achieve favorable outcomes. 
  • Evaluate potential risks and develop litigation strategies. 
  • Support the company’s comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, including antitrust, data privacy, and employment laws. 
  • Monitor compliance activities and conduct regular risk assessments. 
  • Lead and manage a team of legal professionals, including in-house counsel and outside legal advisors. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including business unit leaders, finance, IT and human resources. 

Qualifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a reputable law school
  • Extensive experience in corporate law, including contract drafting and negotiation, corporate governance, and compliance
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advise senior executives and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address complex legal issues
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legal frameworks and regulatory landscape
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in corporate and law firm environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Intellectual Property and Advertising law experience is a plus.
