The location in Coosa Pines, Alabama, is seeking talent to fill the position of Pulping Manager. This job is full time and on site.

Primary Purpose

Coordinate pulping activities with assistants, operators, maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendors to ensure a safe and productive operation. Provide leadership in producing a high-quality product for the pulp dryer while managing costs and ensuring that processes operate within the mill's established environmental guidelines. Oversee the Bleach Plant, Chlorine Dioxide operations, Tall Oil production, and the Brown Stock area, which includes the Woodyard, Brown Stock, Batch Digesters, DD Washers, and Turpentine operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

SAFETY:

  • Ensure that all safety policies are enforced.
  • Perform routine Layered Safety Audits. Conduct weekly safety meetings with operating crews.
  • Provide necessary training and tools to complete all tasks safely.
  • Audit permits.
  • Perform quarterly housekeeping audits.
  • Execute quarterly one-on-one Safety Commitment meetings with all of the operations personnel within the Pulp Mill Department.

 

 ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Maintain the equipment to ensure the processes stay within the issued environmental parameters.
  • Report and resolve all deviations from the permit limits.
  • Execute one-on-one Environmental Commitment meetings with all of the operations personnel within the Pulp Mill Department.

 

 PRODUCTION AND OTHER JOB ASPECTS:

  •  Coordinate daily production activities across departments.
  •  Provide guidance and participate in all maintenance activities within the Pulp Mill Department.
  •  Oversee operation and maintenance work during quarterly and annual shutdowns.
  •  Approve or deny all work requests and requisitions within the department.
  •  Implement guidelines and targets to control costs effectively.
  •  Exhibit systems-based leadership with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  •  Engage in the annual budgeting process.
  •  Contribute to identifying capital needs within the department.
  •  Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports.
  •  Troubleshoot and identify the root causes of operational or maintenance issues.
  •  Collaborate with the administrative assistant for weekly scheduling and operator training.

 

Knowledge and Experience

    • 4 year Engineering degree strongly preferred.
    • Ten years of experience in pulping operations.
    • Effective written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent computer skills.
