The location in Coosa Pines, (Alabama, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Fiberline Manager. This job is full-time permanent.

Supervisor's Title:      Operations Manager                               Salaried Direct/Indirect Reports: 14

 Primary Purpose

Lead overall fiber production and pulp drying operations for the Coosa Pines facility. Provide leadership in producing a high-quality customer product while managing costs and ensuring that processes operate within the mill's established environmental guidelines. Oversee the Pulp Dryer and Wrapper, Bleach Plant, Chlorine Dioxide operations, Tall Oil production, Brown Stock area, and the Woodyard

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Support the mill safety program completely.  Be fully involved in the safety culture and help drive the team towards an incident free workplace. 
  • Provide guidance and support for health, safety, environmental and quality strategies that ensure protection of employee and company property, safety, health environmental compliance and product quality.
  • Provide leadership, technical expertise, and training to guide changes to the Pulping and Pulp Dryer processes and procedures in order to reduce process variability, improve product performance and quality to satisfy customer needs, reduce manufacturing costs, and improve operating efficiency.
  • Lead and direct team in monitoring and maintaining compliance with established quality system policies and procedures.
  • Lead and direct team efforts in the elimination of quality workmanship defects and improved customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely and effectively with the Maintenance and Reliability Teams to improve operations correcting operational issues including equipment run-ability and reliability, training needs, and process optimization.
  • Facilitate the continuous improvement process by which projects and activities are identified, defined, developed and prioritized.  Responsibilities include facilitating meetings, evaluating recommendations, planning and facilitating the implementation of changes, tracking activities and reporting progress.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing procedures and related tools to meet the requirements of an evolving workflow process.
  • Participate in downtime maintenance and readiness planning and project management activities.
  • Perform all required duties and tasks in accordance with Company accounting policies and financial control procedures.
  • Provide direction in the training of production employees in analytical problem solving and decision making techniques
  • Maintain company records as required by company policy.
  • Provide after hours support to mill personnel as required to support ongoing operations.

 

 ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Maintain the equipment to ensure the processes stay within the issued environmental parameters.
  • Report and resolve all deviations from the permit limits.

 

 PRODUCTION AND OTHER JOB ASPECTS:

  •  Oversee production activities across departments.
  •  Provide guidance for all major maintenance activities within the Department.
  •  Provide guidance on work requests and approve requisitions within the department.
  •  Implement guidelines and targets to control the processes effectively.
  •  Exhibit systems-based leadership with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  •  Engage in the annual budgeting process and long-term forecasting
  •  Identifying/coordinating capital needs within the department.
  •  Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Collaborate with the administrative assistant for operator training.

 

Knowledge and Experience

    • 4 year Engineering degree strongly preferred.
    • Ten years of experience in pulp and paper manufacturing operations.
    • Effective written/verbal communication skills
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills at all levels
    • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent computer skills.
